The former QPR boss later revealed on talkSPORT his wife, Sharon, wouldn’t have stopped him ‘thumping’ the officials after the controversy at the Cardiff City Stadium.Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Manchester City on Wednesday, Warnock addressed the comments again – albeit in a more light-hearted manner than the first time around. He said: Ill fine [her] a weeks wages. I dont regret saying it, its my wife she says what she wants.“I cant condone that and thats why I took action against her. Im sure lots of Cardiff fans felt the same.”Warnock lost his temper on the touchline3

Warnock could receive a Football Association charge over his comments about the officials following the controversial defeat to Chelsea. He had said in his post-match interviews: “The best league in the world and probably the worst officials at the minute.”But Warnock insists he is right to criticise refereeing standards in the English game and claims they have gone backwards under referees’ chief Mike Riley, head of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited.“I always thought Mike Riley was a manufactured referee from day one,” Warnock said.“I don’t think he’s changed since then. He’s been coached manufactured, almost like a robot.“He knows everything about the rules, but I feel these people struggle to understand the game and the human element.“A lot of referees are like Mike Riley and that’s why I think we have gone backwards. Common sense thing is not allowed nowadays, but the best refs still use it.”Warnock was hugely disappointed with the officials3

Warnock went on to confirm he wouldn’t be fielding the club’s Under-23 side against Pep Guardiola’s men, after threatening to do so in the aftermath of Sunday’s game.Cardiff play City on Wednesday, and Warnock has promised their title rivals Liverpool his side will be going all out for victory.“I wont field a weakened side against them dont worry and Ill make sure my lads are right up for this one,” he said.
