Ivan Perisic: Remembering the time the Arsenal target fell out with Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund
There is just one day until the January transfer window shuts and it looks like Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic could be on the move to the Premier League after handing in a transfer request. He revealed how he came very close to joining Manchester United in 2017 but Arsenal are considering whether to land the Croatia international on loan for the rest of the season.Perisic is desperate to leave Inter2

10 things you didn’t know about Ivan Perisic

Whether he leaves or stays at Inter is unclear but one thing is clear – Perisic will NOT be signing for Liverpool in January. This is due to a long-standing feud he has with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp which started when Perisic and the German were both at Borussia Dortmund.Perisic was not one of Klopp’s main men at the Westfalenstadion and the player decided to tell the media of his dissatisfaction at getting little game time and even accused his then manager of favouring some players over others.Perisic said a little too much for Klopp’s liking2

In 2012, Perisic told Croatian media: “I cannot be pleased with my situation at the club. I don’t get a lot of time on the pitch, very much like last year.“We have no relationship. He is the best coach in Germany right now, the number one, everyone accepts the subordinate role.“And rightly so, what we achieved in Dortmund over the past few years is unique. “The atmosphere in the team is perfect, but he has three to four players with whom he discusses things. The rest of us are pros, doing their job.”And Klopp issued a frosty response to Perisic’s outburst, saying: “Public whining belongs to kindergarten, not to the world of adults.“If he doesnt play, a football professional should shut his mouth, work hard and make the coach select him not complain about it to the reporters.”This was the beginning of the end for Perisic at Dortmund as he was sold to Wolfsburg a year later before moving to Inter in 2015.He did though gain some revenge over Klopp as he was part of the DFB-Pokal winning Wolfsburg side who beat Dortmund 3-1 in the final, with a little help from a certain Kevin De Bruyne.
